BIKE TIME TRIAL INFORMATION

TIME TRIAL REGISTRATION/PACKET PICK-UP: Friday, July 9, from 5-7 PM at Town Square in Waterville Valley. Please bring a photo ID and your USA Triathlon card (if you’re a member) to registration. YOU MUST HAVE ID! USAT requires that all athletes show proper identification, and since we have no way of verifying your membership at the race site, it is your responsibility to bring your USAT card OR print out your proof of membership at www.usatriathlon.org if you have lost your card. All competitors will receive a “Winning Time” time chip at registration which MUST be worn on your ankle during the time trial.

PARKING: Parking is available at the Black Bear Lodge, Waterville Valley Conference Center, Village Condos, Recreation Department, and Snow’s Mountain. Parking on the race course is not permitted. Parking begins at 4:30 pm, and Police will direct you to the appropriate lots. We strongly encourage arriving early. We also suggest getting dropped-off at the race site or carpooling. Please make sure you allow adequate time for parking… we want everyone to have plenty of time for pre-race preparations! For those athletes staying at Watervillle Valley and it’s resorts, you may easily walk to the start from your resort parking lots.

REGISTRATION: Once you’ve parked, make your way to the registration tent, located next to the triathlon transition area (near the Ice Arena and Town Square). Registration starts at 5:00 PM on Friday, July 9th. You’ll pick up your packet, which will include your bike frame number (big sticker), helmet number (small sticker) and your Timing Chip. You’ll also pick up your goodie bag and race shirt. Mavic and MC Cycle & Sport will be available for last minute bike emergencies

PRE-EVENT MEETING: Friday, July 9 at 6:40 PM at the Start Ramp (next to the Ice Arena and Town Square).

TIME TRIAL START: Friday, July 9 at 7:00 PM at the Start Ramp (next to the Ice Arena and Town Square)

RACE DAY: Once you’ve parked and have picked up your packet, locate the starting area. After that, be sure to be in the area by 6:45 PM, for the pre-event meeting, prior to the 7:00 PM start. Be sure to have your bib number affixed to your jersey, bike frame number on your bike and your helmet number on your helmet. Your “Winning Time” timing chip must be secured around your ANKLE. NO CHIP=NO TIME. You may warm up on the roads around Waterville Valley, but be sure to avoid the course! The MAVIC TIME TRIAL course is a 4 mile out and back course. You will begin on the start ramp right next to the Ice Arena, and finish next to the arena, through the Black Fly Finish Arch. Each cyclist will start on approximately 15 second intervals, from the top of the ramp. You must buckle your helmet before mounting your bike and keep it buckled until after you finish the time trial. There will be lead and sag vehicles provided. MC CYCLE AND SPORT will be patrolling the course to aid with any mechanical problems. Please note that you’re required to fix your own bike. Don’t wait for or expect help, you could be waiting a long time! MC CYCLE AND SPORT will be on the scene to do everything they can to make sure you finish the race. No roads are completely closed to traffic. It is your responsibility to know the race course, to follow the race officials’ instructions, and to observe all USAT rules. ALL TURNS WILL BE CLEARLY MARKED WITH SPRAY CHALK , SIGNS, AND MANNED WITH VOLUNTEERS AND POLICE OFFICERS. PAY ATTENTION!! Course maps are available on the website, www.blackflytri.com, and will also be available at packet pickup. There will be maps posted next to the registration tent. Please use caution and brake when cycling downhill … you will pick up speed very quickly! Always stay to the right of the roadway and do not cross the center line.

POST-RACE BAND AND BREW PARTY: STONYFIELD YOGURT, COORS LIGHT, and the Folks from WATERVILLE VALLEY will supply the complimentary participant snack bag immediately following the race.

For a complimentary Coors Light, bring your Black Fly Beer Buck (you’ll receive this in your snack bag when you cross the finish line) at the Diamond’s Edge North, Legends 1291 Sports Bar, Coyote Grill, or the Snowy Owl Inn. You may redeem it at these spots for your free beer.

Food will be available at the various restaurants and stores right in Town Square for all spectators for a fee. Paul Warnick will be rocking Town Square for everyone. Stick around and enjoy the party!

AWARDS PRESENTATION: The awards ceremony will commence at approximately 8:00 PM (time is subject to change if all participants finish earlier/later) in Town Square. OUT OF RESPECT FOR ALL ATHLETES, YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO RECEIVE YOUR AWARD. NO AWARDS WILL BE MAILED.
