What are your athletic goals for 2010?
My goals are sub 5 70.3, and do another IM. No time goals for IM, but would like to get back in the game a bit, without destroying total balance in my life |

Many set this year...
Goals for 2010
1. practice nutrition plan every long workout
2. hit race fuel plan each race (over drink the bottles if hot/humid)
3. hit my training plan 100%
4. hit my prescribed race plan (watts/pace)
5. drop weight - race at 178-180 (= 10 to 12 lb drop from today)
6. incorporate strength training plan
7. build hill strength for both bike and run
8. don't think about the race outcomes without hitting the above goals
Targets for 2010
1. stay healthy - no injuries/illness
2. build durability (multiple HIMs) for future IM
3. lower my run pace
4. increase threshold watts
5. lower avg 100/yd swim time (1:25?)
6. execute my prescribed watts and run pace each race
7. race at 178-180 lbs
2010 Outcomes
1. lower run pace (low 7s) for 70.3
2. increase avg watts - race
3. Top 3 AG in local races / Top 10 AG in big races (Oceanside, Eagleman, Timberman - not blow up on the run this year at Timber)
4. qualify for Kona
5. qualify for Clearwater
6. get through the season healthy, happy, satisfied and looking forward (mentally and physically) to 2011 = keep the train moving.
OK, that's it. Always easy to put it on paper - now gotta execute.
Happy New Year! |

Finish my 25th consecutive Boston Marathon.
Run Sub 3 hour Boston Marathon. Last year I missed it by 1 minute and 8 seconds.
Learn to swim properly. Inventing strokes during a HIM is getting very old.
Complete my first IM. I'm signed up for Florida IM.
Have good nutrition plan for IM. I tend to bonk because I don't eat during the bike. Just ask Keith what I looked like on the run at Timberman last year.
Maintain my marriage during all this training. (toughest task of all). _________________ What's the forecast for today..PHAT (Pain...Heavy At Times) |

wow, my goals seem meager in comparison:)
Off to a good start....
2hr computrainer ride at 214 watts on Sunday,
1 hr tempo run yesterday
1 hr swim this am, now 1.5hr computrainer session later....
Just gotta stop eating donuts and candy:)
Keeping all of this stuff in perspective is the toughest task. It's for FUN, folks. I've learned that over the years. Family and friends should certainly take precedence over this stuff. Don't get so wrapped up in it that you lose sight of what's truly important.... |

I would have to kill you... but since I will be turning the BIG Five-oh this year I have a few things I have to knock off the list.... _________________ Terry in NH

Update on BHAG's
Training for Boston is going good.
I'm in a masters swim program. My instructor is very patient, in fact the woman is a saint!!! I told her right from the start that I was going to be a major project and she just laughed. The laughing stopped when we were doing a kicking drill and I was going backwards I'm 3 weeks into this thing and I am getting better. I'm in the pool 3 days a week.
I went to Fitwerx and got my bike adjusted and now I'm much more relaxed on the bike. Hopefully this will help during the IM
I need to work with a Nutritionists to get my food consumption right.
As for my marriage, my wife is a saint. _________________ What's the forecast for today..PHAT (Pain...Heavy At Times) |

ScottyG,
you're on the right track!!!!!
We LOVE to run, and it's easy to just fall into the routine of running. I've really made a concerted effort to swim. Amazingly, I actually enjoy it more, as I see improvement.
I've been in the pool 4 straight mornings. Planning on going for #5 tomorrow |
