
Spectacular sights abound on this 13.1 mile walk through Beachtown and along the Seawall on Texas ' Gulf Coast , before a spectacular finish at majestic Moody Gardens . When you're not busy breathing in the fresh sea air, check out the live music and cheerleaders along the course. Be entertained by our fabulous aid stations and fuel up with great treats, Gatorade, Powerbar Gels, frozen fruit and more! After you're done, be a beach bum for the rest of the day, and hang out on Palm Beach and the Oleander Bowl at Moody Gardens . Grab a blanket, some great food, and relax! Saturday, November 20, 2010 . The walk starts at Stewart Beach on Galveston Island , Texas , and finishes at Moody Gardens . Race begins at 7:30am for the Seawall Half Marathon . Packet pick-up begins at 5:30am on race morning at Moody Gardens , in the Visitors Center . Pre-race Packet Pickup is also available Friday at Moody Gardens , from 4:00-6:00pm .

Nary a hill to be found. A scenic journey through Historic Galveston Island. You'll start at beautiful Stewart Beach, with the surf and sun of the Gulf of Mexico just a few feet away. The beginning of the 13.1 mile race will take you east on Galveston Island, through Beachtown, as you hug the Gulf. Then, it's on to the Seawall, where you'll head west for a 4.5 mile stretch running on the longest Seawall in the US! See the waves lapping the shores of Galveston, soak in the sea air, before heading to the finish line at spectacular Moody Gardens. A truly unique and special course in a truly unique and special place.

Eight (8) hydration stations will be located on the course, plus the start and finish. Gatorade, water, Powerbar Gels, pretzels, cookies, sponges and ice will be available to keep you well hydrated and fueled. There will also be a stocked-to-the-gills frozen fresh fruit station at the 6 mile mark, along with other assorted treats. Bandaids and vaseline will also be available. The stations will be staffed by the best volunteers around trying to take home the "Battle on the Beach" first prize!

Imagine running through a tiki hut or tropical oasis...Groove to the tunes of Elvis, Jimmy Buffett, the Beach Boys, and everything in between. Imagine these people cheering YOU on. All water stops will be competing for prizes and cash in the "Battle on the Beach" competition. The most creative and spirited squad wins! Great Live music and entertainment along the course will keep you going! You never know what or who you might run into on course, but expect to be entertained! Expect cheerleaders, plenty of bands, DJs spinning their greatest hits and more.

Cross the finish line, grab your finisher's medal and finisher's tee, and start recovering immediately. We'll have water, Gatorade, Muscle Milk, candy, oodles of fruit, Freeze Pops and a bunch of other recovery stuff for you. That's just the appetizer, though.

The race is a point-to-point race, starting at Stewart Beach and ending at Moody Gardens , 7 miles away. If you’d like to park where you finish, you can jump on the Pre-Race Party Bus at Moody Gardens , which will take you to the starting area at Stewart Beach. Grab your Seawall Survival bag, and take the 15 minute bus ride to Stewart Beach in the morning. This won't be any old boring bus ride! Bus passes are $5 per person and can be purchased with your entry.

Party On The Beach! You'll finish your 13.1 journey at Moody Gardens. Following the race we'll be offering a Seawall Smorgasbord for everyone. So stick around for the BASH and party down with live music, MICHELOB ULTRA beer, great food and more on Palm Beach and in the Oleander Bowl! Grab your beach blanket (order a commemorative Seawall Half Marathon Beach Towel with your entry HERE, and you may pick it up after you finish), your favorite Hawaiian shirt and relax the rest of the day away on the beach. Filled with festive sights and sounds, the annual "Festival of Lights" at Moody Gardens is the Gulf Coast's largest holiday lighting event, and has become a holiday favorite for families and groups alike. Walk along the mile-long trail of more than one million lights and 100 sound-enhanced animated light displays. A wide variety of holiday films are also featured at the IMAX 3D®, Ridefilm and 4D Special FX Theaters, and guests can enjoy the Outdoor Ice Skating Rink, nightly live entertainment or a train ride along the light trail. After you're done with the post-race fun, we'll take you back to Stewart Beach if you parked there on race morning. Grab your Seawall Survival bag, and take the short 5 minute bus ride back to Stewart Beach. This won't be any old boring bus ride! Bus passes are $3 per person and can be purchased with your entry.

Need dry clothes at the finish, but don't have anyone to lug it for you? We'll have a dry clothes bag drop-off at the race start. Just write your bib number on the bag and we will transport it from the race start at Stewart Beach to the finish at Moody Gardens.

It's great to be a kid....It's not so great to be a kid watching adults run around. To make the kiddos feel at home, we'll be offering a bunch of beach activities for them. Moody Gardens has a playground, plus, on Palm Beach we'll have beach balls, sand toys, coloring pages, and a sand castle building contest. Sign up at the Kids Zone. Be sure to have your child join in the fun at the Li'l Shrimp 1K Fun Run or Jumbo Shrimp 2K Fun Run, right at Moody Gardens! Also at the Kids Zone, kids can redeem their Seawall Sandollars, our version of the dollar bill. Surfer dudes will be patrolling Moody Gardens and handing out the bucks to the kids. Kids may bring them by the Kids Zone to redeem for prizes.

Kids wanna run too! At 2:00 pm, the children get their chance at fame! Participating kids will receive a runners bib, and finisher medal when they cross the finish line.
